or over 130 years, the Stanthorpe Border Post has delivered local news and entertainment to Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt – one of the largest and most diverse fruit and vegetable-growing areas in Queensland. As the only paid local newspaper servicing the district, the Stanthorpe Border Post is relied upon for its coverage of local news, events, schools, sport and property. The popular twice-weekly publication was recently relaunched, and also remains a must-read guide to local television scheduling, retailers, and trades and services.

he Bush Telegraph, which is now inserted into each Tuesday’s Stanthorpe Border Post, specialises in rural topics of interest to the rural service and supply industry and all primary producers in the region.  HISTORY – The Stanthorpe Border Post first appeared as the Border Post and Stannum Miner on 20 July, 1872. Initially the paper was printed on foolscap-sized-sheets – the same size as a boundary peg when rolled – the paper was promptly nickname “The Boundary Peg” or “The Stannum Roarer”.

The paper soon grew to a broadsheet size, publishing colonial and overseas news as well as local events. During 1970, the “Stannum Miner” was dropped from the title and the paper changed from broadsheet to tabloid. In 1994, Australian Provincial Newspapers (APN) acquired the controlling interest in the Border Post.

Today, the Border Post services the Granite Belt community and surrounding areas.
