QCPA 2017 Newspaper Excellence Awards

The high professional standards of Queensland Country Press Association’s member newspapers was acknowledged at the Association’s annual Newspaper excellence Awards held at Redcliffe on Friday, October 6.
Some 50 delegates and guests attended the impressive awards presentations, which saw trophies and certificates handed out in 22 categories across advertising, journalism excellence, photography and overall newspapers.
Over 450 entries were received across the categories, and five judges provided their professional assessment and comments.
Quality production proved a winner for “Noosa Today”, which took out awards for best newspaper over 10,000 circulation, best newspaper employing 2 or less journalists and most improved newspaper.
Boonah’s Fassifern Guardian took three major awards in Journalism Excellence and Michael Doyle of Dalby Herald won best news picture and best people picture awards.
Advertising awards were shared across the State, with the Rainbow Beach & Cooloola Coast Community News ‘ promotion of Rainbow Beach in New Zealand Herald winning the best community promotion.
Tori Johnson of The Western Star, Roma, was Advertising Sales Representative of the Year and Katherine Morris of South Burnett Times at Kingaroy was the Young Journalist of the year.
